Events for Our Oceans
As an avid scuba diver, I’ve spent countless hours observing marine ecosystems firsthand—an experience that fostered a deep appreciation for ocean life and the delicate balance that sustains it. While pursuing my graduate studies at Pratt Institute, I used my thesis project as an opportunity to explore how design could help raise awareness about the growing environmental challenges facing our oceans.
Issues such as overfishing, habitat destruction, and unsustainable seafood practices are often difficult for the public to understand or connect with on a personal level. The challenge was to translate complex environmental concerns into an engaging and accessible experience that could inspire people to think more critically about the seafood they consume.
For my thesis, I conceptualized and developed a creative campaign centered on promoting sustainable seafood choices. I designed and organized two public-facing events that used storytelling, educational materials, and visual communication to highlight the importance of responsible fishing and ocean stewardship.
The project involved developing the overall concept, branding, and supporting materials for the events, including informational graphics and promotional collateral that helped communicate the environmental impact of seafood consumption. By combining research, design, and experiential programming, the project aimed to create a more engaging way for audiences to learn about sustainable seafood and the broader challenges facing our oceans.
